Tommy was really struggling at school and was constantly distracted when he lost interest in the subjects being taught. He wasn't a stupid boy, far from it, Tommy was highly intelligent. This could, of course, account for his lack of attention in that he was not being challenged enough. Tommy also struggled because he is very analytical and loves to reason things out by asking lots of questions.
